Meditation: Our society is being shaped by the media. The media has succumb to a “new normal” dictated by the politicians in power. Words have become relative. Promises can be changed overnight. Immoral and unethical behavior is not being questioned. A president using his office to enrich his family businesses and to build an empire has apparently become the “new normal”. Individuals may be outraged, but the society at large seems to be complacent, silent, non-responsive… Where are the demonstrators? Who is holding this government accountable? How can our basic values of honesty, respect, truth telling, promise keeping and integrity disappear like this and the opposite of those values suddenly become portrait as the “new normal”?
Prayer: God of Truth, how come we collude with the twisting of truth? Abusers are being portrait as victims. Victims are being called criminals. You know the truth. The people in power can try to bury the truth, but the truth will not stay in the grave. This is the week after Easter. The victims will be redeemed. Abusers and their evil doing will be revealed for all the world to see. God You are justice and You have the last word. We thank you that in the end, Truth will always prevail. Amen
And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Philippians 4:8
